What to send Joe
Two photos and a few words are enough to start. If the trouble is outside, a photo of that side of the house from the yard helps too, so Joe can see where the downspouts empty and which way the ground slopes.
- A wide photo of the wall, the wet spot or the window, from far enough back to see the whole thing
- A close photo of the worst part: the crack, the loose mortar, the water line, the rusted well
- What part of Des Moines you are in
- How long it has been happening, and if it gets worse after rain or in the spring
What happens after you send it
Joe looks at the photos, and at the house if he needs to. He tells you what the wall is made of, where he thinks the water is getting in and what he would do about it. You know the plan before anything gets dug or cut.
